Press Release for Aug. 10 - 14th, 2009

Guest speakers draw Republicans to Winnipesaukee Summer Socials

The Winnipesaukee Republican Committee held two Summer Socials recently, drawing a crowd of Republicans, Independents and the press to hear from guest speakers Kelly Ayotte, Frank Guinta, Jeb Bradley and former Massachusetts First Lady Ann Romney.

On Monday, August 11th, former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte gave the first speech of her exploratory campaign for U.S. Senate. Ayotte said she made difficult choices when tough cases came before her as the state’s top law enforcement official, and she assured the audience she would make tough decisions to support New Hampshire children, who will deal with the consequences of decisions made in the near future.

State Senator Jeb Bradley, while introducing the evening’s panel, supported the right of citizens to ask tough questions of their representatives at recent town hall healthcare forums. When members of U.S. Congress come home, they should be answering questions and hearing their constituents’ concerns, “[E]specially when they’re raising billion dollar deficits,” he said.

Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, running for U.S. Congress [NH-1], said that in four years as mayor, he never wavered on an issue he has worked for and believed in. He said despite Democratic opposition, he successfully administered a tax and a crime reduction while in office.

Media coverage of this event appeared in the Union Leader, Concord Monitor, New Hampshire Public Radio and conservative blog, GraniteGrok.

On Friday, August 14th, the committee held an inaugural social for Republican women in the Lakes Region. Guest speaker Ann Romney, a resident of Wolfeboro and the wife of 2008 presidential candidate Mitt Romney, touched on the benchmarks in her family’s life leading to her husband’s decision to enter last year's presidential campaign. Mr. Romney has recently been expending his efforts on helping to get the country back on the right path, she said, and the two of them will be speaking out and to listen to Americans.

4th of July Breakfast Update

Fellow Winnipesaukee Republicans!

Robert Bestani of Newmarket, candidate for U.S. Congress, and Fred Tausch of Nashua, founder of S.T.E.W.A.R.D. of Prosperity, will be joining Senator Jeb Bradley as our guest speakers this Saturday, July Fourth, at our breakfast fundraiser!

Attorney General Kelly Ayotte cancelled her plans to be with us early last week. She offered her apologies to us all. While we were dissapointed at first, we are very excited about our new panel.

Bestani is an economist with a long career in international banking and finance, a visiting scholar at Stanford University and he served in the U.S. Treasury Department under President George H.W. Bush. As for Tausch, please learn more about the efforts of this small businessman through STEWARD at www.stewardofprosperity.com. There you can glimpse how he is working to educate the public about the management -- or lack of -- of our money by the federal and NH governments in order to hold them more accountable.

Breakfast is from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the downstairs ballroom of the Wolfeboro Inn at 90 North Main Street in Wolfeboro. We do this every year at the hotel, and it is very important we have many of you there. Tickets are $25 per person, and there will also be a 50/50 raffle to raise more money for the GOP here in the Lakes Region.

Come out to support people like Bradley, Tausch and Bestani with your ears, voices and comradery. There will be time for questions to the gentlemen after the panel closes its address.

Join your neighbors from Carroll County GOP, Barnstead-Alton Republican Committee, elected representatives from Carroll and Belknap counties, and more! Bring your family and friends and catch early-bird parking for the famous Wolfeboro Fourth of July parade at 10 a.m. We hope you will march with us and work of the all-you-can eat helping of pancakes, eggs, coffee and cream, etc.
Please reply to this e-mail for questions, details about our parade presentation or to let us know you would like to volunteer for either July Fourth event. We appreciate RSVPs for the breakfast to get an idea of the number of guests. Tickets are available at Dive Winnipesaukee in downtown Wolfeboro, or you may pay at the door.
